Friday Favourites #18

It feels like I've been away from blogging for ages when in fact it's little over a week. Life just got in the way I'm afraid. I find blogging with a full time job hard to balance, and now that the sun goes down before I leave the office it's so hard to take decent pictures. I now have a slight backlog of things to talk about.

But I'm back, hopefully for a little while now and this weeks Friday Favourites comes from my need to not let go of those lovely floral prints we see emerge in the summer. I think this ASOS dress is the perfect combination of Autumn appropriate and a flower injection. I would love to wear this on a date night with Elliot (maybe after losing like 14lbs :p)

Professional Beauty North

Last weekend, myself and Hannah headed over to Manchester to attend one of the most exciting beauty events of the year, Professional Beauty North.

We headed through and the first thing we saw was the Dermalogica stand. Providing you with a free face mapping consultation, they gave me an in depth look into the issue I had going on with my skin, with a few samples to get me started on my journey to a clearer complexion.

The next stand we just had to go visit was the NYX stand. Having never owned any of their products before, I was quite keen to take advantage of the show prices on offer. But I just splurged on one lipstick instead... However it is pretty beautiful.

After a quick walk around we soon realized that this event was very trade orientated. So we grabbed some chocolate covered strawberries and got ourselves out of there for some lunch.

We headed over to Dough in the Northern Quarter and treated ourselves to some delicious pizza.

All in all, the PBNorth event was great, I just wish that the stands were more interactive than they were.

MOO Business Cards

This weekend I'll be heading down to the Professional Beauty North event in Manchester so I thought that it would be a good idea to get my name and blog down in writing for people to remember me by.

When Hannah showed me the amazing MOO design she had created for her blog, I had no other choice but to jump on board. It was quick and easy to make my design and you get your first 50 cards free.

They arrived within a week and came in this amazing black card holder that's super handy for carrying in my bag.

If you want to take your blog to the next level I'd highly recommend heading over to MOO to get yourself some Blogger business cards.

Magna. Carta. Holy. Grail

On Friday I went to see Jay Z!

One of my favourite artists EVER! I was just so so so excited to see him, spent weeks listening to his music and hours finding the perfect outfit for it.

Rachel & I headed down to the MEN Arena for her first ever Jay Z experience.

With none other than Timbaland dj-ing his set, he went through songs from his new album as well as a few favourites from Watch The Throne, Encore, Paris & Onto The Next One.

If you can get your hand on a ticket to go and see the Magna Carta World Tour, please go!! You'll have and amazing time!!

Motivate Me Monday

I'm in desperate need on some fitspo this week and I think I'll be referring to this page a lot throughout the day.

Goal - to exercise at least 3 times and not eat bread. Easier said than done :(

What are your goals this week?

Lush Hair Extensions - Mini Tutorial

As you'll have seen, I recently had a hair switch up and I'm now rocking a brunette head of hair. So that means new extensions, which is always an exciting time for me.

I have always had a go-to site to get amazing hair from and that's Lush Hair Extensions. Providing clip in hair extensions at different lengths and all sorts of shades, it really is the first place I'd go if you're looking for some extra length.

I got the Medium Brown #6 in 15", this is a great length if you have medium hair and want to get a natural looking longer length. I also decided to treat myself and go for the Deluxe Double sets that Lush Hair Extensions offer, which provide you with a slightly thicker weft that the normal sets, but from experience, the normal sets give you just the right amount of hair if you're new to this.

I thought I'd give you a little tutorial on how I put my hair extensions in as my friends always ask me how to put them in (I think their feeling a bit hair curious after seeing my new locks). Here are the tools you'll need to grab before you start.

Step 1. Depending on how you're having your hair, whether it be straight, wavy or curly, I would recommend styling your own hair first and prepping your hair extensions so that they are brushed, straightened/curled/waved and lay down flat on a surface ready for you to pick up when ready. I opted for straight hair to show you how easy it is to blend this hair into my own.

Step 2. Lift your hair up from the bottom of your head at the back and run a comb an inch from where your hair starts to leave a straight section of hair down. Clip the rest of your hair up and back comb at the outer edges and middle of your hair to coincide where the extensions clips are.  Grab your 3 clip extension and use your backcombed hair as an anchor to keep them in place.

Step 3. Take out the clip, holding your hair up still and take down another section of hair with your comb. Clip your hair back up and back comb the outer edges and 2 middle sections to match the 4 clip hair weft. Repeat with the 3 clip weft and then the 2 on top.

Step 4. Now for the side pieces. Take one side of your hair up, leaving a section just behind your ear and clipping the rest up. Backcomb in one place and apply the 1 clip weft nice and snug behind your ear. Then take another section down and backcomb in 2 places to match the 2 clip weft and add this just above your ear. Then repeat on the other side.

Step 5. Let all your hair down and style any extra pieces that may have kinked whilst clipping. Then you're done.

I hope this helped any hair extension newbies out there :)

Let me know if you have any good hair extension tips we could try

Missguided Tartan Toes

I was browsing through Facebook the other day and Missguided must have known I was in the mood for a little retail therapy. With a collection of tartan prints laid out in front of me I ummed and arrhed about what to get. I decided that my first delve into the plaid world would be in the form of.. wait for it...socks!

I know, such a random choice, but when I saw these beauties I couldn't help but imagine these bad boys peeping over some majorly leather clad boots.
